Our dining room finally feels complete after months of planning & work. Every detail was considered because it needed to work around the biggest focal point in the space..the wallpaper mural. Unlike a pattern, a mural looks like a seamless painting & can even tell a story. I loved this option for the dining space because depending on which seat you choose at the table, you'll have a different view!
A friend of mine has several prints from an artist named Katie Small & introduced me to her paintings - if you haven't seen her work...do yourself a favor & check her out! Around the time I was searching the world wide web for the perfect mural, Katie collaborated with Wall Blush! Wall blush offers affordable peel & stick wallpaper options & I was thrilled at the idea of having Katie's work grace our walls outside of frame.
When I first put eyes on the Otilia Wallpaper I knew it was the one! It's very cool toned & heavy on the blue/gray hues which I was fine with because our floors are warm & we have so many wood tones in this small area. We opted to only cover the top half of the walls & paint the bottom half so we could change that part as often as we like without chaning out the wallpaper! Wall Blush offers several height options so you can choose whatever length you need according to the look you're going for.
Application - a true relationship test
Wall Blush offers very easy to follow instructions on their website for installation of peel & stick panels but trust me...If you steer away from the instructions for one second...you'll be looking across the room at your partner hopelessly at 11:30 pm on a weeknight frustrated with each other to no end. Save yourself the stress & follow the instructions to a T. The one tip I will suggest: we actually began incorporating teeny tiny thumb tacks to help hold the panels in place after getting them all lined up. It was like a second & third set of hands & you can't notice the holes at all once you pull them out. It worked for us, so if you're struggling it may be worth a shot!
Wallpaper is definitely making it's rounds again in the design world so if you want it, I say go for it! Peel & stick panels are a great option too if you're anything like me & change your mind every couple of years. They are intended to be removed easier than regular wallpaper where a paste is used. Win win! Worth it? It's a yes in my house!
